Job Overview
The Day Surgery Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our friendly, supportive and experienced team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic area that provides high-quality care to patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures.
The Day Surgery Unit is a busy, fast-paced environment that supports patients throughout their surgical journey, from admission and pre-operative preparation through to recovery and discharge. We are proud to provide safe, effective and compassionate care, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure the best possible patient experience. Staff work in line with our Trust values of Everyone Matters, Making a Difference and Working Together in all that they do.
This post will provide the successful candidate with opportunities to develop a broad range of clinical skills and experience across the perioperative pathway, supported by a knowledgeable and welcoming team committed to learning and development.
We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified nurses. You should be motivated, enthusiastic and keen to develop your knowledge and skills within the day surgery setting. Excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and a commitment to delivering high standards of patient care are essential.
Due to the nature of this role, we require candidates who apply to have current right to work in the UK.
Main duties of the job

To Work According To The NMC Code Of Professional Conduct And Relevant Professional Guidelines As a Named Nurse Or Key Worker (with Facilitation) For a Defined Group Of Patients And Take Responsibility For
- The assessment of care and health education needs
- The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient

To work in accordance with the RUH Nursing Strategy and contribute towards achieving its objectives and maintain effective communication and participate in clinical supervision as appropriate and to teach and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor/ role model to less experienced staff.

- NMC Registration
- Able to evidence thorough and up to date knowledge of nursing theory and practice
Desirable criteria
- Acute UK hospital experience
- Teaching and Assessing qualification
Knowledge

- Understanding the NMC Code of Practice and requirements
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a day surgery unit
