The Integrated Procedures Unit (IPU) Opportunity
The Integrated Procedures Unit (IPU) has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, organised, and competent Staff Nurse to join our core nursing team.
Role Details
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week, worked over 4 days
- Schedule: IPU is currently open 07:30-19:30 Monday to Friday
This is a great opportunity to achieve an excellent work-life balance whilst joining a dynamic nurse-led service.
Requirements
- Must have a valid and current NMC PIN
- Must be able to practise immediately as a Registered Nurse
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients undergoing a diverse range of day case procedures.
- Act as a clinical role model for new staff, reflecting the philosophy, beliefs, and standards of the department.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to promote a positive working partnership across all IPU services.
- Act as a preceptor/mentor/clinical supervisor for junior staff and students.
- Ensure that all prescribed drugs and treatments are given correctly and in accordance with Trust policy, including the correct care and custody of controlled drugs.
- Rotate onto the day of surgery admissions unit.
- Rotate into the endoscopy unit.
- Rotate into the nurse-led dressings clinics.
- Escalate concerns in a patient’s condition to senior members of the nursing team, medical staff.
- Participate in clinical audit.
- Maintain full compliance with all essential training and clinical skills competencies.
- Identify areas for self-development and training within the Performance Planning and Development Review structure.

About The Christie
The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, looking after more than 64,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 25% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.
