We have the opportunity for Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our enthusiastic forward-thinking teams within the Initial Assessment Unit (IAU) in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. As part of this team, you will have responsibility for assessment, delivery, and supervision of all care needs within the initial assessment environment. You will possess sound clinical skills for the assessment of patients' needs, implementation, and evaluation of care which is evidence-based. You will have the ability to work to high clinical standards in this fast-paced environment. The successful applicants require being flexible, forward-thinking, and able to work effectively within a changing and dynamic environment. The successful candidates should possess excellent communication skills and decision-making skills with evidence of ongoing professional development. This position offers ample opportunities for education and career development. IAU is supported by its own dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator team, and we are passionate about supporting the wellbeing and development of our team.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Location: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Shifts: Monday to Sunday, Day shift/Twilight shift/Night Shift
- Type: Permanent, full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programmes of care for patients presenting with acute medical and surgical conditions
- Deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care that meets patients' physical, psychological, and social needs
- Provide clinical guidance and support to junior staff, students, and support workers within the department
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate timely investigation, treatment, transfer, or discharge of patients
- Maintain accurate patient records in line with professional, legal, and organisational requirements
- Take responsibility for leading a designated area and coordinating nursing care within the department when required
- Contribute to education, quality improvement, audit, and the ongoing development of nursing practice within the service

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications, and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- Registered General Nurse qualification with current NMC registration and live PIN
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to lifelong learning
- Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a busy clinical environment
- Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and make sound clinical judgements
- Flexible and dependable approach with the ability to adapt to changing service needs and work across NHSGGC sites when required
- Previous NHS or healthcare experience within a ward environment would be advantageous
