About the Role

The Band 5 Interventional Radiology Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures.

Working within the multidisciplinary team, the post holder provides high-quality care before, during, and after procedures while ensuring patient safety, dignity, and comfort.

The nurse is accountable for practising in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code, Trust policies, and current evidence-based practice.

The post holder undertakes comprehensive patient assessments, prepares patients physically and psychologically for procedures, and ensures all necessary documentation, investigations, and pre-procedure checks are completed.

Key Responsibilities

  • To deliver high quality, evidence-based and patient focused clinical care.
  • To work within both the nursing and multi-disciplinary team to provide evidence based, holistic care to a group of patients from admission to discharge within the interventional suite and other areas within the radiology department.
  • To uphold a duty of care and clinical governance.
  • To maintain own and others’ knowledge of clinical excellence.
  • With training and support, take responsibility for managing and coordinating the interventional suite on a daily basis.
