Band 5 Staff Nurse Vacancy on Pevensey Haematology/Oncology Ward
We are seeking a registered nurse with proven experience to join our haematology/oncology team. You will be part of an established team of nurses in cancer and haematology services and play a key role in the development of this service.
Essential Requirements
- Mentorship, Cannulation, and Phlebotomy Skills: Training will be provided in the administration of chemotherapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Join a supportive team in a rewarding and stimulating area of specialist nursing.

Candidate Profile
- Registered nurse with generic pre-registration experience in a care environment.
- At least one year of experience as a qualified nurse.
- Ability to organize your own and others' workload.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Essential pre-requisite: Venepuncture and cannulation skills.
Ward Details
- In-Patient Area:
- 11 single occupancy en-suite rooms.
- One teenage/young adult room.
- 2 three-bedded bays.
- Cares for newly diagnosed patients and those requiring higher observation and treatment at various stages of the disease process.

Haematology Unit:
- Cares for Level 1 and 2 Haematology in-patients.
- Close relationships with Level 3 and 4 Centres.

Day Area:
- 18 chair/bed spaces.
- Cares for patients receiving Haematology and Oncology treatments.
- Open from 0800 - 1900, Monday to Friday.
- Uses the Chemocare electronic prescribing system.
- Implements an electronic diary system for booking patient appointments.
