Job Title

The Interventional Radiology Suite performs elective day case and urgent in-patient procedures such as vascular angioplasty, fistuloplasty, Hickman line insertion and biopsies, nephrostomies, biliary work, and embolisation, which are then recovered in the adjacent day unit.

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is part of the Black Country Provider Partnership, and the Interventional Radiology Suite is working alongside three other hospitals to provide a 7-day/24-hour on-call service for hemorrhage control and treatment of life-threatening sepsis.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who thrives on a fast-paced environment, is caring, compassionate, and committed to delivering high-quality standards of care. You will be expected to work alongside experienced consultants as a second assistant within a theatre environment and participate in the coordination and implementation of pre, peri, and post-operative care for acute and chronically ill inpatients attending Interventional Radiology. You will be supported by a profile of band 6 and band 7 nurses and radiographers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake, or be willing to undertake, specialist clinical practices, i.e., scrub nurse, working in an environment that will involve ionizing radiation and the wearing of a lead apron.
  • Provide high-quality nursing care and participate in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the care needs for the patient group.
  • Deliver compassionate person-centered care, and treat patients, service users, their families, and their carers with consideration, dignity, and the respect you would want for yourself or your family.
  • Provide relevant forms of care with minimal supervision and participate in the supervision, teaching, and assessment of unregistered or junior staff and students.
  • Play an active part in the continuing development of the unit or department and contribute to the maintenance of an environment conducive to the delivery of high standards of patient care by promoting good communication and relationships between staff, patients, relatives, and visitors.
  • Work alongside the Consultant as a scrub practitioner for interventional procedures, which will involve the wearing of a lead coat due to working with ionizing radiation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
