The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5 Registered Nurses to join the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit (QENSIU) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. As part of Scotland's national spinal injuries service, you will provide high-quality, clinically effective and patient-centred care across both the Spinal High Dependency Unit (Edenhall Ward) and the Spinal Rehabilitation Ward (Philipshill Ward). This is a unique opportunity to support patients throughout their spinal injury journey, from the acute phase through rehabilitation, while working within a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Applicants must state their current right to work in their application.

- Permanent Role
- 36 Hours Per Week
- Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Monday - Sunday (12 Hour shifts, day/nightshift)
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for delivering safe, effective and compassionate nursing care to patients with spinal cord injuries across high dependency and rehabilitation settings. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, supporting individuals through treatment, rehabilitation and discharge planning. The role offers exposure to a varied caseload of acute spinal injuries, high dependency care and rehabilitation, while providing opportunities to develop specialist clinical skills and contribute to maintaining high standards of patient-centred care, dignity, independence and wellbeing.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of dignity, independence and holistic care for patients with spinal cord injuries.
- Willingness to learn and develop specialist spinal injury knowledge.
- Commitment to continuing professional development.
- Enthusiasm for working within a dynamic multidisciplinary team environment.
- Access to support from the dedicated Spinal Injuries Education Team.
- Comprehensive in-house training and competency development programme.
- Opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills including:
- Suprapubic catheterisation
- Male urinary catheterisation
- Tracheostomy care
- Neurogenic bowel management
