Job Description: Staff Nurse - Specialist School Nursing

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate to the role of Staff Nurse - Specialist School Nursing within a full-time role, located at Cedar House, within our St. Michael's Community Hospital site within the Specialist School Nursing team. The weekly hours for this role will be agreed at interview.

About the Role

The postholder will undertake clinical duties as required and be able to facilitate training and education for parents and school staff. They will be based in either 1 or 2 special schools and will provide support to CYP with medical or health needs. They will manage the health care support worker (HCSW) and support them with developing skills and assisting the B5 in caseload management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide child/family centered care with minimum supervision.
  • Facilitate the prevention of admission or reduction in hospitalization or loss of education days.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation of evidence-based care to children.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with other agencies to ensure a seamless service for the children.
  • Work in line with Trust policies, protocols, objectives, and local guidelines.
  • Adhere to the Trust values and practice in line with NMC regulations.
  • Act as an effective clinical support for students.
  • Assess everyday healthcare needs.
  • Develop and implement health care plans or intervention programmes.
  • Ensure that health care plans are updated as necessary and suitable for use by education staff.
