The birthplace of the Paralympic Games, we’ve been serving patients since 1944, creating a different philosophy and approach to the management of spinal cord injuries. We lead the way in the treatment and care of those with spinal cord injuries and are proud to have established an international reputation for the quality of our services.
The National Spinal Injuries Centre has a mixture of band 5 nursing opportunities for candidates who are looking for a role in either an acute or rehab environment.
With an interest in spinal cord injury, ideal candidates must be self-driven, energized, and always strive to provide a high standard of nursing care. Their philosophy should be that the patient must come first.
Self-awareness, strong interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to professional development are also essential. Looking to the future, the Trust will support those individuals that want to challenge themselves and become the leaders of the profession.

This nurse is a member of a multi-disciplinary team whose aim is to deliver a coordinated, comprehensive, and holistic service for patients within the NSIC.
- Acts at all times in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct (ensures working colleagues also act in accordance with the Code of Conduct).
- Supervises the work of the nursing team, ensuring individual programmes of care are formulated accordingly to patient needs and current research/guidelines.
- Ensures planned nursing care is delivered safely and effectively, taking into account the views of the patient and their relatives.
- Ensures plans of care are updated as appropriate.
- Regularly takes charge of the ward.
- As part of professional development, hold the Unit Bleep on occasions.
