This is a fully remote EMEA opportunity focused on advanced database engineering and real-time analytical workloads.

You will contribute directly to the evolution of analytics technologies, with a particular focus on ClickHouse and its integration with the PostgreSQL ecosystem.

The role combines systems programming, database internals, performance engineering, troubleshooting, and open-source development.

You will have significant technical ownership, contributing upstream while helping shape production-grade analytics products and tools.

The position involves close collaboration with experienced engineers through code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and feature development.

You will work on technically demanding challenges involving distributed systems, query processing, database performance, and reliability.

This role is particularly suited to an experienced engineer who is passionate about open-source databases and deep systems-level engineering.

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain database features and tooling, with a particular focus on ClickHouse and real-time analytical workloads.
  • Contribute to analytics products and integrations across the broader PostgreSQL ecosystem, including database extensions, accelerators, migration tooling, monitoring capabilities, and performance optimizations.
  • Implement new functionality while maintaining high standards for software stability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Review and refine code contributions from other engineers, providing constructive technical feedback and helping maintain strong engineering standards.
  • Write, maintain, and expand regression tests covering bug fixes, new functionality, and critical database behavior.
  • Investigate and resolve complex database, networking, and software-related issues.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations for analytical database workloads.
  • Work with CI/CD pipelines to support reliable integration, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Contribute upstream to the ClickHouse open-source project and participate in the wider open-source database ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with engineering colleagues on technical design, implementation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
