Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in full-stack software development using languages such as C++, Java, Kotlin, and Typescript.
- 3 years of experience with front-end frameworks, full-stack development, or API development.
- 1 year of experience with software design, architecture, and machine learning.
- 1 year of experience with agentic coding.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience programming in TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Experience working in a research-adjacent environment, translating SOTA models into product features.
- Familiarity with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and billing/infrastructure for compute-intensive workloads.

Google Labs incubates early-stage efforts to discover and create Google’s next generation of AI products. Our small, product-driven teams focus on rapid innovation to support Google’s core mission. The Language Applications team manages a portfolio, including high-profile launches such as AI Studio, NotebookLM and the Gemini API for developers.
Labs Science is a new initiative within Language Applications. In partnership with Google DeepMind (GDM), we transform breakthrough research—such as Co-Scientist and AlphaEvolve—into user-centric products designed to accelerate the pace of scientific discovery.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Google DeepMind to translate breakthrough GenAI research assets like Co-Scientist and AlphaEvolve into intuitive products that accelerate scientific discovery.
- Architect and build entirely new products from the ground up, moving rapidly from prototypes to production-ready services in a changing environment.
- Design and implement sophisticated agentic systems and multi-step AI prompts to solve complex, open-ended scientific tasks using the latest LLM reasoning advancements.
- Establish frameworks and metrics to measure model performance, driving continuous quality improvements and model fine-tuning for specific scientific use cases.
- Work closely with Product Managers and UX partners to discover user needs and iterate on features that genuinely delight the scientific community.
