At Paymentology, we’re redefining what’s possible in the payments space.

As the first truly global issuer-processor, we give banks and fintechs the technology and talent to launch and manage Mastercard and Visa cards at scale - across more than 60 countries.

Our advanced, multi-cloud platform delivers real-time data, unmatched scalability, and the flexibility of shared or dedicated processing instances. It's this global reach and innovation that sets us apart.

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer

To provide technical leadership across multiple teams and engineering domains.

As an individual contributor with organisation-wide influence, you'll shape technical strategy, guide architectural decisions, and help teams build reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems that power millions of payment transactions every day.

You'll work closely with Engineering, Product, and Operations to solve complex technical challenges, establish engineering standards, mentor senior engineers, and enable teams to make better technical decisions with confidence.

What you get to do:

  • Drive technical strategy across engineering domains and cross-team initiatives.
  • Shape scalable architectures that support Paymentology's long-term product and business goals.
  • Translate complex technical challenges into clear, practical solutions.
  • Establish engineering standards, architectural patterns, and best practices across teams.
  • Identify and mitigate long-term risks around reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Operations to influence technical roadmaps and delivery.
  • Mentor senior engineers and strengthen technical leadership across the organisation.
  • Lead initiatives that improve engineering quality, testing, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Contribute hands-on to critical systems where your expertise delivers the greatest impact.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
