This is a unique opportunity for a Staff Software Engineer to take ownership of the user experience across an industry-leading platform used in cutting-edge environments spanning life sciences, diagnostics, advanced manufacturing, and research.
You'll be joining a highly talented, senior engineering team building the next generation of intelligent, AI-native products where users, developers, and autonomous agents all interact with the same powerful platform.

The Opportunity
As a Staff Engineer, you'll operate as both a technical leader and hands-on contributor. You'll work closely with Product, Design, Data, and AI teams to define strategy while remaining deeply involved in delivery and architecture.

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a high-performing software engineering squad
- Driving end-to-end delivery of complex product initiatives
- Owning key areas of platform architecture and technical direction
- Building scalable UI and platform capabilities that accelerate engineering teams
- Collaborating with Product and Design to solve customer problems from first principles
- Mentoring and developing senior engineers
- Influencing engineering standards, tooling, and ways of working
- Helping define an AI-first software development culture
What You'll Be Working On
Examples of challenges include:
- Building intelligent interfaces that explain complex system behaviour in real time
- Creating decision-support tools for critical operational workflows
- Designing workflow authoring experiences that feel more like modern development environments than traditional enterprise software
- Delivering personalised experiences based on user role, context, and behaviour
- Building seamless experiences for browser users, developers, system integrators, and AI agents
- Creating products that combine real-world automation with AI-native interfaces

What We're Looking For
We're interested in engineers who have:
- Built complex, data-rich, real-time user experiences
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript expertise
- Experience designing software in technically challenging domains
- A full-stack mindset and appreciation of user experience across every layer of a platform
- Experience taking products from concept through to delivery and adoption
- Strong architectural and technical leadership skills
- A passion for solving difficult customer problems rather than simply delivering features
- Previous experience mentoring or leading senior engineers
- Exposure to AI-enabled products and modern software engineering practices
Ideal candidates will bring:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience building commercial software products
- A track record of balancing speed, quality, and scalability
- Strong stakeholder collaboration skills across Product and Design
