Stakeholder Engagement Manager
Location: Peterborough, World Wide House (hybrid and flexible working available)
Salary: circa £55,000-£65,000 per annum
Permanent | 37 hours per week
Fixed Term Contract 12 months

As part of our Water Resources Management Plan, we're developing two pioneering desalination schemes for Norfolk and Lincolnshire. These nationally significant infrastructure projects will play a critical role in delivering resilient water supplies across the region.
We're looking for an experienced Stakeholder Engagement Manager to lead the engagement and consultation development for these flagship schemes, helping to build trust, understanding and support among a wide range of stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
You'll lead the development and delivery of stakeholder engagement and consultation strategies for the desalination programme, ensuring meaningful, transparent and effective engagement throughout the planning and development process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading stakeholder and community engagement activity for a nationally significant infrastructure projects.
- Developing and delivering consultation and engagement strategies aligned to planning and regulatory requirements.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with communities, local authorities, regulators, statutory consultees and political stakeholders.
- Managing stakeholder risks and opportunities, helping to minimise project delays and reputational impacts.
- Working closely with technical teams to ensure stakeholder feedback informs project design and development.
- Managing engagement and consultation delivery partners and external consultants.
- Representing Anglian Water at stakeholder meetings, partnerships, forums and consultation events.
- Supporting wider communications and awareness activity to improve public understanding of desalination and water resilience.

What you'll bring
You'll be a confident and credible stakeholder engagement professional, with experience working on complex infrastructure programmes and managing relationships in challenging and high-profile environments.
You'll bring:
- Significant experience leading stakeholder engagement and consultation programmes within either consultancy or an in-house environment.
- Experience working on major infrastructure projects, ideally within regulated sectors or Development Consent Order (DCO) schemes.
- Strong understanding of planning, consultation and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to build trust and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-management skills.
- Experience managing sensitive issues and mitigating reputational risk.
- Experience managing consultants, budgets and project deliverables.
- The ability to explain complex technical or environmental information in a clear and accessible way.
