Job Title: Standards Development Manager

Location: Covent Garden, London

Work Model: Hybrid

As a Standards Development Manager, you will play a key role in shaping standards that help protect people, improve products and services, and support trusted practices across a wide range of sectors.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to build influential professional networks, manage varied and meaningful projects, and contribute to work that has national and international impact.

About the role:

In this diverse and dynamic role, you’ll manage national and international standards committees, drive strategic initiatives, and engage with industry leaders to influence best practices across industry sectors. You’ll be right at the heart of how BSI operates as a National Standards Body, helping to set the guidelines for how others work across the globe.

  • Facilitate discussions, build consensus, oversee standards development projects, engage with external stakeholders, and help identify opportunities for new standards that deliver positive outcomes for society.

This is not a technical regulatory or auditing role, and previous standards experience is not required. Instead, we're looking for someone with excellent stakeholder engagement, strong project management and facilitation skills to be able lead a diverse portfolio of standards committees and projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of standards committees, projects, and programmes across safety, food and healthcare-related sectors.
  • Engage with key stakeholders—including industry experts, government bodies, and trade associations.
  • Drive strategic development, identifying opportunities for new standards and expanding BSI’s influence in the sector.
  • Represent the UK internationally, providing expert input on European and global standardisation efforts.
  • Monitor sector developments and emerging trends to help shape future standards and priorities.
  • Ensure timely project delivery, overseeing workflows and collaborating with internal teams, including Content, Marketing, and Policy.
  • Provide expert guidance to committee chairs, participants, and stakeholders, facilitating discussions and building consensus.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
