Job Description:
We are recruiting programmers to join the Adelphi Values PCO Statistics and Programming Team. In this role you will analyse patient-reported outcome (PRO) data from clinical trials and psychometric studies in support of the development of patient-reported outcome measures. The clinical data we analyse is diverse and sometimes complex compared to many clinical trials datasets. You will have a logical mind, enabling you to unravel the detail in the data, and enjoy the challenge of work that at times requires intricate data manipulation.
Programmers work closely with statisticians and psychometricians, within a small, friendly and tightly knit team to develop high-quality, and sometimes innovative, tables and figures for our clients. You will also get involved with developing and improving processes, including the creation of standard macros to be used across studies and the integration of AI within processes where suitable.
SAS Base Certification is essential, and Advanced Certification and/or Clinical Trials Certification is desirable, or equivalent experience. Two to three years minimum experience of statistical analysis in SAS is essential, and experience in analysing clinical outcomes assessment (COA) data (particularly PROs) in observational and clinical trial data, preferably in a pharmaceutical company, healthcare research consultancy, contract research organisation or academic setting, is highly desirable. Some knowledge of R would be beneficial, as would further education involving statistics. Knowledge of CDISC, SDTM and ADaM specifications and best industry practices is also desirable. You will have a degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Biostatistics/Statistics, Educational Measurement, or equivalent experience in statistical SAS programming.

We are equally proud of our friendly, supportive culture and our approach to people and their working environment as we are of our reputation and high-quality research which puts the patient at the centre of drug development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
