Station Enquiry Officer (2 vacancies, 1 X Early Shift & 1 X Late Shift)

Contract type: Permanent

Rank/grade: C

Salary: Starting at £32,250 + £7,160 London Weighting.

Early Shift: Monday to Friday between 7am and 3pm, including bank holiday working

Late Shift: Expected hours of cover required would be 7 days a week between 7am and 11pm with unsocial hours shifts attracting additional shift allowance payments.

About The Team

The Front Office team are often the first point of contact for members of public, we strive to provide a professional and warm, welcoming service. We handle a wide range of enquiries, supporting and working closely alongside police officers and staff across the organisation to keep the station running efficiently. We take pride in delivering excellent customer service to our local community, victims of crime and our visitors to the city.

About The Role

As a member of the Front Office team at Bishopsgate Police station, you will help members of public with a wide range of enquiries, providing the support and information they need, whilst delivering excellent customer service. The role entails dealing with administrative tasks, taking crime reports and using your initiative and training provided to direct enquiries to the correct department or officer.

This is a varied and rewarding role that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with sensitive situations. You will play an important part in supporting colleagues and the wider public, helping to ensure a professional, efficient, and accessible service is delivered at all times.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be:

  • Conducting initial investigations and record details of crime reports and found property, seeking assistance from response supervisors for investigations where there is an increased risk to persons
  • Dealing with redirecting to the appropriate person or department information and requests via telephone, computer aided systems, e-mail, internal despatch systems, post office or callers in person to the front office and where possible providing information in response to requests.
  • Providing appropriate directions and advice to members of the public on various legal, social, geographical and general matters. Signposting to other relevant agencies where necessary.
  • Verifying the identity and integrity of persons visiting the Police station and issuing/retrieving security passes to visitors and contractors.
  • Monitoring and accurately recording persons attending the police station to comply with statutory requirements. (Registered Offenders & those signing on bail).

Requirements

Your application will be scored against the criteria listed below for shortlisting. Please ensure that you reference your ability, knowledge and experience against these points in your application.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills for use when speaking to members of the public, liaising with members of this or other Police forces, writing reports, and responding to enquiries.
  • Ability to work accurately, efficiently and effectively with minimum supervision
  • Good administrative, organisational and keyboard skills to deal with a variety of duties.
  • An ability to identify and obtain relevant information through investigation to solve problems, working effectively under pressure.
  • An ability to identify risks and where possible take action to reduce risk.

This vacancy is open only to those who have the right to work in the UK. Due to security vetting requirements for this role being RV/CTC, applicants must have continuously resided in the UK for the 3 years immediately preceding their application.
