Job Description

The Statutory Accountant is responsible for managing statutory financial reporting and compliance requirements across multiple legal entities in the UK. The role ensures the timely and accurate preparation of statutory accounts, supports external audits, and maintains compliance with local regulatory and accounting requirements. Working closely with Financial Control, Tax, FP&A, and external advisors, the Statutory Accountant plays a key role in ensuring strong financial governance, high-quality reporting, and continuous improvement of statutory reporting processes and controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate statutory financial statements for multiple legal entities in accordance with local UK GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the year-end audit process, including preparation of audit deliverables and coordination with external auditors.
  • Ensure timely filing of statutory accounts and related regulatory submissions across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Maintain and reconcile statutory accounting records and balance sheet accounts.
  • Support the preparation of financial disclosures and technical accounting documentation.
  • Partner with internal finance teams to ensure accuracy and consistency between management and statutory reporting.
  • Liaise with external advisors, company secretarial providers, auditors, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of strong financial controls and governance processes.
  • Assist with legal entity management activities, including intercompany reconciliations and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and statutory reporting regulations, assessing impacts on the business.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Support ad hoc finance projects and wider controllership initiatives as required.

About You

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in statutory reporting, financial accounting, and external audit environments.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and local/UK GAAP reporting requirements.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts for multiple entities and jurisdictions preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, balance sheet management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Experience with ERP Systems Preferred
  • Experience within a multinational or shared services environment advantageous
