Statutory Accountant
We're partnering with a leading insurer to appoint a Statutory Accountant to their London finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys technical reporting, Solvency II and working across a diverse portfolio of UK and European entities. You'll play a key role in statutory reporting, regulatory compliance and finance transformation projects, working closely with Finance, Risk, Actuarial and external auditors while helping shape improvements across the reporting function.
The Opportunity
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you'll be responsible for producing statutory accounts across multiple legal entities, supporting Solvency II reporting requirements and driving improvements to reporting processes and controls. Alongside your core reporting responsibilities, you'll contribute to finance transformation initiatives, automation projects and the implementation of new reporting technology, giving you exposure well beyond traditional financial reporting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
