Position Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Group Financial Control team, with a specific focus on ensuring our financial statements are compliant with financial policies and regulatory standards, whilst driving an efficient audit across the Group.
The role reports to the Statutory Reporting Senior Manager and will be responsible for reviewing and monitoring the accounting for joint ventures and operations across the group, preparing notes to feed into the group financial statements, managing the month end for a number of corporate entities, preparation and external audit of subsidiary stat accounts and other ad hoc projects as they arise. The role will work closely with key stakeholders within Group Financial Control, Group Technical Accounting and the finance and business teams across each of the divisions, as well as with our external auditors.
A key aspect of the role is to ensure the smooth running of our processes through robust programme management and collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders across the Group Financial Control team, wider Rolls-Royce teams and with PwC. We are a partner of the business. Our mission is to prepare and provide trustworthy financial records, insights and counsel to support informed decision making on behalf of the divisions whilst driving for a no-surprise culture.
What you will be doing:
- Preparing Group financial statement notes, coordinating data gathering with key business stakeholders and ensuring compliance with IFRS requirements.
- Acting as a key contact for the external auditors on specific Group financial statement notes including liaising with the auditors on technical queries and supporting the business contacts where required.
- Working with the business, the Governance team and the external auditors to ensure a robust project plan and good quality outputs for the UK subsidiary statutory accounts.
- Preparing and reviewing the financial statements of specific UK subsidiary statutory accounts ensuring that any new reporting requirements, group accounting policies, and accounting standards are correctly reflected in the financial statements.
- Responsible for working with the Group Financial Control forecasting lead to ensure the statutory reporting teams forecast submissions are planned, reviewed, and delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Responsible for reviewing and monitoring the accounting for joint operations and joint ventures to ensure they are accurately captured within the accounting system and disclosed in both the Group and local subsidiary financial statements.
- Support on the interpretation and assessment of new technical accounting standards and the disclosure requirements for the financial statements. Communicate and cascade new requirements to the businesses to ensure the correct information is collected for inclusion in the financial statements.

This position has no direct reports however, a key requirement will be to influence and work across our divisions to improve deliverables and processes. Lead on ad hoc projects that require financial reporting expertise, including M&A activities.
Position qualifications:
- professional accountancy qualification and IFRS experience is critical.
- Strong practical experience applying IFRS principles within a statutory reporting environment.
- Experience preparing UK subsidiary statutory accounts within a complex organisation.
- Experience gained within external audit environments (Big 4 preferred), or equivalent hands-on statutory reporting experience.
- Strong technical accounting experience including knowledge of accounting for investments in subsidiaries, JVs and Jos
- Experience operating in complex multi-entity and multi-currency reporting environments
- Strong financial reporting experience with an appreciation of FTSE listing requirements.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to challenge processes and drive improvements.
- Ability to understand complex issues quickly and translate them into practical, effective solutions.
