Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

About the Company

An established structural steel specialist is looking to appoint an experienced Structural Steel Draughtsman to join its technical team in Bristol.

The business delivers structural steelwork solutions across a diverse range of projects, working with clients, engineers, and contractors to deliver high-quality steelwork from initial design through to fabrication and installation.

With a strong pipeline of projects and a growing workload, this is an excellent opportunity for a draughtsman looking to develop their career within a specialist structural steel environment.

The Role

As a Structural Steel Draughtsman, you will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed fabrication and general arrangement drawings for structural steelwork projects.

Working closely with engineers, estimators, project managers, fabricators, and site teams, you will take projects from design through to fabrication, ensuring drawings are produced accurately, efficiently, and in line with project specifications.

The role will suit an experienced structural steel draughtsman who is confident working from engineering information and understands the practical requirements of steel fabrication and erection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed fabrication and general arrangement drawings for structural steelwork projects.
  • Prepare accurate 3D models and 2D drawings from engineering and architectural information.
  • Develop steelwork details suitable for fabrication and installation.
  • Interpret structural engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Liaise with engineers, project managers, estimators, fabricators, and site teams.
  • Incorporate design changes and revisions into drawings and models.
  • Produce fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and associated details.
  • Ensure drawings comply with relevant project specifications, standards, and client requirements.
  • Carry out drawing checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage drawing revisions and maintain accurate document control.
  • Work to project programmes and agreed deadlines.
  • Assist with resolving technical and detailing queries throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the wider technical team with project requirements as necessary.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
