Tekla Detailer

Location: Wakefield
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

The Company

The steel leaving this business does not stay in the workshop.

It becomes part of major commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and specialist projects across the UK, the kind of structures where getting the detail right before fabrication matters.

With a strong order book and a reputation for technically challenging structural steelwork, this is an opportunity to join an established contractor where the drawing office sits at the heart of project delivery.

They are now looking for an experienced Tekla Detailer to join the team in Wakefield.

The Role

You will take engineering information and turn it into the models and drawings that allow fabrication and installation to happen.

You will:

  • Build accurate 3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures.
  • Produce fabrication, assembly, GA, and erection drawings ready for manufacture and site.
  • Interpret engineering information and turn complex requirements into practical steelwork details.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, fabrication teams, and site personnel to keep projects moving.
  • Resolve detailing issues before they reach the workshop or site.
  • Manage revisions, material information, and project outputs through to completion.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The projects will give you exposure to structural steelwork that is more technically involved than the standard building frame, with complex connections, coordination, and fabrication requirements forming part of the challenge.

The Candidate

You will already understand structural steel from a fabrication and construction perspective, rather than coming purely from a design environment.

Must Have

  • Proven experience as a Tekla Detailer / Structural Steel Detailer.
  • Strong working knowledge of Tekla Structures.
  • Experience producing fabrication, assembly, and erection drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of how structural steel is fabricated and erected.
  • Experience working to project deadlines and managing your own detailing workload.

Nice to Have

  • Experience on large-scale or technically complex steelwork projects.
  • Experience within a major structural steel contractor or fabrication business.
  • Knowledge of relevant British/European standards.
  • Experience coordinating steelwork with other disciplines.
  • Familiarity with Tekla fabrication outputs and CNC data.
  • Experience with complex connections or high-tonnage projects.

Why This Role?

This is not a role where you will spend your time detailing the same straightforward frame.

You will be working alongside experienced engineering, project management, and fabrication teams on projects where the quality of the detailing directly affects what happens in the workshop and on site.

For the right person, it offers the chance to broaden their experience, work on more technically demanding steelwork, and build a career within an established business with a strong project pipeline.

How to Apply

If you are an experienced Tekla Detailer and want to know more about the projects, the team, and what is behind the opportunity, send over your CV.
