Tekla Detailer – Structural Steel
📍 Dudley, West Midlands
💼 Permanent | Full Time
💰 Competitive salary, depending on experience
A good steel detailer doesn't just draw what they've been given.
They understand how the steel will be fabricated, how the connections need to work and what the people on the shop floor and site will actually need from the drawings.
That's what makes this role different.
As a Tekla Detailer, you'll take structural information and turn it into accurate, fabrication-ready models and drawings for a specialist steelwork business.
The Role
You'll work through projects from structural and architectural information, building detailed 3D Tekla models and producing the drawings and information needed to take the steel from design into fabrication.

You'll deal with connections, member sizes, levels and interfaces, identifying issues before they reach the workshop or site.
You'll work closely with engineers, project teams and fabrication, resolving queries and making sure what leaves the drawing office can actually be built.
The projects will give you variety rather than having you repeatedly detail the same type of structure, with exposure to different structural steelwork requirements and challenges.
What You'll Bring
- Previous experience as a Tekla Detailer / Structural Steel Detailer
- Strong working knowledge of Tekla Structures
- Experience producing 3D models, GA drawings and fabrication drawings
- Good understanding of structural steelwork and fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings
- Understanding of steel connections and how structures are assembled
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage your own workload
- Good communication skills when working with engineers, production and project teams
