About The Role

A Steel Stockholder is sought for a full-time, temporary-to-permanent position in Cradley Heath, offering £13.09 to £14.50 hourly. Two shift patterns exist: day work, Monday to Friday, 8am until 4pm, or a rotating rota covering mornings, afternoons and an early Friday finish. Duties involve receiving, checking and storing metal stock, plus picking and processing steel within a manufacturing setting. Applicants should possess prior experience in stockholding, warehouse operations, yard work, FLT use or heavy industrial settings. Reliable numeracy and attention to detail prove essential when handling materials and maintaining accurate records. The role suits someone comfortable with physical tasks and varying hours.

Pertemps are currently recruiting for Steel Stockholders / Steel Operatives to join a busy steel and manufacturing company based in Cradley Heath.

We have two shift options available, with opportunities for candidates with experience in steel stockholding, metal processing, warehouse operations, yard work, FLT or heavy industrial environments.

Shift Options

Day Shift

  • Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm
  • £13.09 per hour

Rotating Shift

  • 6am – 2pm Monday to Friday
  • 1:30pm – 10pm Monday to Thursday
  • 2pm – 8pm Friday
  • £14.50 per hour

The Role

Working within a busy steel stockholding, steel processing and metal manufacturing environment

  • Receiving, checking and storing steel and metal stock
  • Picking and preparing steel orders for production and despatch
  • Loading and unloading steel products and material
  • Moving heavy steel and metal products around the warehouse and yard
  • Measuring and checking steel to customer or production requirements
  • Maintaining accurate stock control and inventory
  • Preparing materials for fabrication, manufacturing and production
  • Working within a busy steel warehouse / yard environment
  • Following company health & safety procedures
  • Supporting the wider warehouse, production and despatch teams

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience as a Steel Stockholder, Steel Operative, Steel Warehouse Operative, Steel Worker, Metal Operative or Yard Operative
  • Experience within a steel, metal, engineering, manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Experience handling steel, sheet metal, structural steel, metal sections or heavy materials
  • Good understanding of steel stock, stock control and material handling
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding industrial environment
  • Able to accurately measure and identify different steel products
  • FLT / Counterbalance experience is compulsory
  • Overhead Crane / Crane Operative experience is compulsory
  • Reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious
  • Able to work effectively as part of a busy warehouse or production team
