Interim Stock Accountant
c£300 per day
Oxford Circus - 3 days per week
Must be able to start 1st Nov or earlier
We are looking for an experienced Management Accountant / Stock Accountant to join a fast-paced retail business on a contract basis.
This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on stock accounting, reporting and month-end, alongside wider management accounting responsibilities. The successful candidate will need to be able to quickly understand an existing process, take ownership and operate independently following a short handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage key areas of the management accounts process, including accruals, prepayments and journal postings
- Take ownership of stock accounting and reporting, ensuring stock balances and costs are accurate
- Manage accrued purchases relating to stock and ensure relevant costs are correctly accounted for
- Review landed/outlanded costs, COGS and discounting to ensure the P&L and balance sheet are accurately stated
- Ensure stock-related accounting is correctly processed through the finance system
- Support the wider management accounts process, including overheads and property-related costs
- Review and manage corporate credit card expenditure
- Identify and investigate discrepancies, ensuring financial information is complete, accurate and delivered on time
- Work closely with the existing team to ensure a smooth handover and continuity of processes

Candidate Specification:

- Part qualified accountant, or strong relevant management accounting experience
- Previous experience within retail, stock accounting or another high-volume environment strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of stock, COGS, P&L and balance sheet accounting
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of established processes
- Contracting/interim experience is highly desirable, with the ability to quickly get up to speed and deliver with minimal supervision
- Experience with NetSuite is preferred; familiarity with Solutions Seven would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately in a high-volume environment
- Available to start quickly and able to undertake a short, focused handover before taking full ownership
