Job Title: Stock Controller

Location: Duxford, Cambridgeshire

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

SMT is a leading full-service distribution company specializing in machinery and trucks. Our focus is on providing equipment for the construction, material handling, recycling, and transport industry. Launched in 2010, we have already obtained a significant heritage that dates back to 1946. Our mix of agility and international experience gives us the advantage of a synergetic environment. We are active in large parts of Africa, Belgium & Luxembourg, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and in the US.

Are you an organised and customer-focused professional with experience in stock control, parts administration, procurement, or supply chain operations? We're looking for a Stock Controller to join our team at Duxford, playing a vital role in ensuring our parts operation delivers outstanding service to both internal and external customers.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you'll be responsible for coordinating parts ordering activities across the business, maintaining optimum inventory levels, and supporting the efficient movement of parts throughout the network. Working closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and Volvo systems, you'll help ensure the right parts are available at the right time while maintaining high levels of accuracy and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Managing parts ordering activities with Volvo and non-Volvo suppliers to support customer and business requirements.
  • Monitoring stock availability, backorders, supplier performance, and inventory levels to maximise service delivery.
  • Supporting import, export, dealer-to-dealer, and drop-shipment activities while ensuring correct processes are followed.
  • Maintaining accurate parts records, system updates, invoice reconciliations, and supplier information within the Dealer Management System (DMS).
  • Providing excellent customer support by responding to parts availability enquiries, lead time requests, and stock-related queries.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
