Storage & Backup Engineer (SC Cleared)
Location: Remote
Rate: Up to £622 per day (INSIDE IR35)
Contract Length: 4 Months
Clearance: Active SC Clearance Required
Your New Role
Hays are recruiting for an experienced Storage & Backup Engineer to join a high-profile Ministry of Justice programme. This is a fully remote contract opportunity supporting critical national infrastructure within a secure and highly regulated environment.
You will be responsible for the management, maintenance and optimisation of enterprise storage platforms, ensuring services remain secure, resilient, performant and compliant with operational and security requirements.
What You'll Be Doing
- Administering enterprise SAN and NAS storage environments.
- Performing storage provisioning, allocation and capacity management activities.
- Monitoring and optimising storage performance and availability.
- Managing storage replication, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Supporting firmware upgrades, maintenance activities and infrastructure changes.
- Investigating and resolving complex storage-related incidents and problems.
- Working closely with Wintel, Linux, Database and Application teams.
- Producing and maintaining operational documentation, technical standards and runbooks.
- Supporting change management and governance processes.

What You'll Need to Succeed
- Active SC Clearance.
- Strong experience administering enterprise storage infrastructure.
- Experience with SAN and NAS technologies.
- Knowledge of storage replication, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Experience supporting critical production environments with high availability requirements.
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes including Incident, Problem and Change Management.
- Experience working within secure and highly regulated environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
