Storage & Backup Engineer
📍 London / Hybrid – 2 days per week in White City
💰 Up to £65,000

Pulse Group are exclusively recruiting for a Storage & Backup Engineer to join the Data Centre Services team of one of the world's leading universities.
Our client is a globally recognised institution at the forefront of science, technology and research, with an extensive infrastructure estate supporting over 20,000 students across multiple campuses and specialist facilities.
You'll be joining the team responsible for the physical infrastructure behind world-class research and teaching, working across enterprise storage and backup spanning three data centres, including a newly built High Performance Computing (HPC) facility.
This is a proper hands-on infrastructure role, not DevOps, offering real ownership of enterprise storage environments and some exciting infrastructure projects.

What we're looking for:
- 💾 Strong hands-on enterprise storage & backup experience, ideally within large-scale on-prem environments.
- 🐧 Solid Linux administration, including troubleshooting and patching.
- 🔧 Experience with SAN/NAS, Fibre Channel and enterprise storage infrastructure.
- 🔄 Exposure to technologies such as IBM Storage, Rubrik, NetWorker or Commvault
- 🖥️ Working knowledge of Windows Server patching and Active Directory.
- 🌐 Good understanding of servers, storage, networking and how infrastructure components integrate.
- 🏢 Comfortable working independently and undertaking occasional hands-on Data Centre work.

What you'll be getting stuck into:
You'll take ownership of enterprise storage and backup operations, working across IBM storage arrays, Fibre Channel and Rubrik, alongside supporting storage procurement and deployment.
There's also a major NetWorker → Commvault migration kicking off in Q1 2027, offering the opportunity to take real ownership of a significant infrastructure project.
