✈️ Storage & Disassembly Manager – Licensed B1 Engineer
📍 Teesside International Airport
Willis Aviation Services Limited (WASL) is looking for an experienced Storage & Disassembly Manager to lead our aircraft storage, preservation, disassembly, teardown and parts recovery operations at our facility at Teesside International Airport.
This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing aircraft end-of-life programmes from induction through to final disposition, ensuring operations are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable aviation regulations and customer requirements.
✈️ The Role
As Storage & Disassembly Manager, you will take overall responsibility for planning, coordinating and overseeing aircraft storage and disassembly activities. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and work closely with Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Sales, Finance, customers, lessors and regulatory authorities.
You will play a key role in maximising recovered asset value while maintaining high standards of safety, regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead aircraft storage, preservation, disassembly and teardown programmes from induction through to final disposition.
- Manage aircraft preservation programmes in accordance with customer/CAMO requirements, manufacturer requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
- Plan and supervise the removal of engines, landing gear, avionics, structures and other aircraft components in accordance with approved procedures and technical data.
- Establish project work scopes, manpower requirements, tooling requirements and project timelines.
- Oversee component recovery, identification, segregation, tagging, preservation, certification and traceability.
- Manage inventory control and ensure accurate records for recovered aircraft parts and materials.
- Monitor project performance against cost, schedule and asset recovery targets.
- Ensure compliance with applicable aviation regulations, company procedures, quality standards and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate audits, inspections and regulatory reviews.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with the company Safety Management System (SMS).
- Identify and manage operational risks associated with aircraft storage and disassembly activities.
- Lead, develop and support technicians, supervisors, planners, logistics personnel and contractors.
- Monitor KPIs including turnaround time, recovery rates, safety performance and profitability.
- Develop project budgets and monitor operational costs.
- Work collaboratively with customers, aircraft owners, lessors, suppliers, recyclers and regulatory authorities.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, increased efficiency and cost reduction.

About You
We are looking for an experienced aviation professional with strong technical knowledge and proven leadership experience.
The successful candidate must:
- Hold a valid UK CAA Part-66 B1 Aircraft Maintenance Licence.
- Have 7–10+ years' experience within aviation maintenance, aircraft storage, disassembly, teardown or MRO environments.
- Have a minimum of 3–5 years' supervisory or management experience.
- Have strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance practices, technical documentation and teardown procedures.
- Have experience or a strong understanding of aircraft end-of-life programmes, parts recovery and asset disposition.
- Have a good understanding of commercial aircraft, engines and major aircraft systems.
- Have knowledge of aviation regulatory requirements and aviation management systems.
- Understand aircraft records, component traceability and certification requirements.
- Have experience with inventory management, logistics, warehousing or supply chain processes.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, project management and problem-solving skills.
- Be highly organised and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be comfortable working with maintenance tracking, ERP and inventory management systems.

A Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous, although relevant aircraft maintenance qualifications and experience will also be considered.
