THE ROLE

Working with both internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative, creative solutions across the estate, on brand and budget to provide a retail experience that is commensurate with New Look’s ambition.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • To look for creative solutions for environments related projects – New Stores, refits, fixtures, visual elements and adhoc works & provide drawings from initial feasibility, through full architectural co-ordination, technical detailing, specification control. Buildability, statutory compliance & governance, tender pack, onsite/as builts for all new stores, refits and adhoc projects.
  • Lead architectural coordination across design consultants, internal stakeholders, contractors, landlords, and statutory authorities to ensure store designs are technically robust, commercially viable, operationally practical, and fully aligned with brand standards.
  • Provide technical design direction on store planning, customer journey, operational layouts, materials, finishes, fixtures, signage, services interfaces, and architectural detailing to support consistent, compliant, and high-quality project delivery.
  • Maintain specifications and guidelines that relate to architecture, visual & fixtures and producing comprehensive guides.
  • Developing a clear understanding of the project proposals and organising activities and responsibilities within each project to ensure deadlines and project timelines are met.
  • You should be aware of competitor store design activity as well as current, relevant retail design trends and how they might impact the New Look store experience.
  • Accountable for fulfilling the Principal Designer role on construction projects, ensuring compliance with CDM and Building Safety Act requirements, overseeing the management and maintenance of Golden Thread information throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordination and Maintenance of records inc As builts, Landlord’s approvals, planning applications and advertising consent plus risk assessments, change control documents and detailed design in all areas that relate to Architecture, Visual & Fixtures that align from a procurement and H&S view inline the Building Safety Act requirements of the management of Golden Thread Information within the construction industry.
  • Manage multiple aspects of project coordination including structural, MEP, lighting and other consultants.
  • Design of new fixtures in line with the needs of the business and suitable from a H&S view.
  • Create mood boards and sample boards for presentations.
  • Ensuring all design packages, including plans and elevations, are created within a timely manner with a scheme that can be delivered on budget and allow the projects teams to plan effectively.
  • Work with Procurement team to ensure the change control process is followed and work with them to ensure project planning, specifications and designs can be installed on budget and fully comply with all the relevant regulations and H&S standards met

WHO YOU ARE

  • Highly skilled in AutoCAD and all other standard Microsoft Office packages especially Inc Microsoft Excel. Skilled in Sketch up and rendering software.
  • 5 Years Post PQE minimum
  • Strong knowledge of retail design methods
  • Full knowledge of Building Regulations, Principal Designer and the construction industries Golden thread.
  • Experience managing external consultant teams and resolving complex technical and design issues.
  • Proven experience of working from conception to finished design.
  • A keen eye for detail and quality.
  • Ability to follow and maintain a visual style across multiple projects and platforms.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced & demanding environment on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Desire to learn.
  • Minimum level of education or Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Design or Architecture.
