About the Role
As a Store Manager, you will attract customers, create exceptional shopping experiences, and lead a motivated team to drive sales and customer loyalty. Your leadership will build an inspiring store environment centered around active living, sustainability, and lasting customer connections.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Strategy & Local Community Engagement
- Build & Lead Commercial Projects: Co-build and execute an omnichannel commercial plan tailored to the needs of local customers.
- Product & Service Offering: Offer a high-performing, sustainable, and omnichannel range of products and services expected by local shoppers.
- Local Relationships: Build strong connections with local institutions, public authorities, trade associations, and partners to promote active living and eco-mobility.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Leverage business data and insights to guide store trajectory and performance.
2. Store Operations & Customer Experience
- In-Store Business Excellence: Oversee core store operations including sales, merchandising layouts, commercial dynamism, inventory, and mass planning.
- Seasonal & National Initiatives: Execute national commercial strategies and seasonal priorities to optimize conversion rates.
- Services & Sustainability: Expand new/second-hand product offerings, repair and buyback options, and workshop services to extend product lifespans.
- Operational Efficiency: Coordinate team scheduling, hourly performance, and working conditions to ensure staff availability while meeting efficiency targets.
- Safety & Security: Enforce strict compliance with store security, data protection, customer/team safety, and commercial legislation.
- Eco-Responsibility: Manage site sustainability through waste management, energy conservation, and eco-friendly practices.

3. Team Leadership & Development
- Culture & Engagement: Foster a safe, inclusive, and motivating work environment that brings company culture to life.
- People Development: Conduct regular monthly individual reviews to support team growth, upskilling, and mentorship.
- Recruitment & Workforce Structure: Identify staffing needs, recruit talent, and align the store structure with long-term commercial goals.
- Compliance: Enforce UK employment law, staff management regulations, and social framework guidelines.
4. Financial Accountability & Performance
- Trajectory & Forecasting: Formulate and manage an ambitious, deliverable annual trajectory alongside accurate monthly forecasting.
- Profitability & Cost Control: Optimize store organisation and cost ratios to maximize store turnover and overall profitability.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Success Metrics
- People: Safety audit results, staff rotation, team engagement, and "I have IM".
- Planet: Buy-back growth %, circular turnover growth %, workshop growth %, and eco-responsibility metrics.
- Business & Revenue: Turnover growth, profit targets (£), productivity, forecast accuracy, cost ratio, digital in-store share, customer conversion %, and Net Promoter Score (CSAT/NPS).

Candidate Requirements & Core Competencies
Human & Interpersonal Skills
- Strong prioritization, active listening, collaboration, persuasive communication, organizational skill, and goal setting.
Technical & Management Skills
- Proven experience in store commercial policy, layout management, and omnichannel retail operations.
- Track record of managing store schedules, human structure, and hourly performance.
- Strong team development, recruitment, and UK employment law compliance experience.
- Financial acumen (store P&L, turnover, profit forecasting, and cost management).
- Capability in crisis management and security compliance.
