Store Manager
Nisbets Limited are currently recruiting for a Store Manager to join our Retail team in Belfast.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and commercially focused leader to take ownership of the store's performance, driving sales growth, profitability, and exceptional customer service.
As a Store Manager at Nisbets, you will be responsible for delivering and exceeding sales and margin targets through the implementation of an effective strategic sales plan. You will lead, coach, and inspire your team to achieve their full potential while creating a welcoming and engaging environment for customers and colleagues alike. Working closely with your team, you will identify local business opportunities, drive customer engagement, and ensure operational excellence across all areas of the store.
This is a fast-paced and rewarding role requiring strong commercial awareness, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to adapt to changing business needs. You will be accountable for maintaining high standards of presentation, compliance, health and safety, and customer experience while ensuring the store operates efficiently and profitably. The role also provides the opportunity to influence talent development, succession planning, and team performance within a leading retail business.
Key Accountabilities
- Drive and exceed sales and margin targets to maximise store profitability through the delivery of an effective strategic sales plan.
- Build a strong understanding of the local market, identifying opportunities to generate new business and grow existing customer relationships.
- Develop and implement targeted outreach and traffic-driving activities while monitoring competitor activity and market trends.
- Maintain regular communication with senior leadership regarding store performance, opportunities, and challenges.
- Manage staffing levels effectively, ensuring rotas, shift patterns, holidays, and absence are planned to meet business requirements.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members through training, performance reviews, one-to-ones, and ongoing development support.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and succession planning.
- Support and lead teams through business change and company communications, ensuring understanding and engagement.
- Create and maintain an inspiring in-store environment that reflects customer needs, company standards, and promotional activity.
- Ensure all company policies and compliance requirements are adhered to, including cash handling, banking procedures, health and safety, operational controls, and building maintenance.
- Take ownership of health and safety compliance, ensuring the successful completion of audits and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Deliver outstanding customer experiences and professionally manage challenging situations to achieve positive outcomes.

Capabilities, Skills and Experience Required
Essential
- Experience delegating tasks and organising workloads effectively.
- Proven ability to drive sales targets, KPIs, and business performance.
- Experience leading and developing people to achieve business objectives.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
- Basic IT, numeracy, and literacy skills.
- Positive, proactive, and solution-focused approach.
- Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a Store Manager position.
- Experience creating and managing staff rotas.
- Experience acting as a first point of escalation.
- Retail sector experience.
- Knowledge of the hospitality sector.
