Store Manager - Reading

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a newly created leadership role within the TGJones store structure. As Store Manager, you'll take ownership of the overall success of one of our retail stores with an integrated Post Office, inspiring your team, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and driving commercial performance in a dynamic, community-focused environment.

About the role

This role combines commercial retail delivery with the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all store services, ensuring excellent customer experience across both areas while driving sales, service standards, and profitability.

  • Drive store sales to meet and exceed targets through effective commercial planning and execution
  • Analyse KPIs (e.g. conversion, ATV, footfall) and implement actions to improve performance
  • Execute promotions, campaigns, and visual merchandising in line with brand standards
  • Champion a customer-first culture, always ensuring exceptional service standards
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing store team
  • Coach and motivate the team to achieve individual and store targets
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day store operations, including opening/closing procedures
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety, security, and compliance
  • Oversee stock control, deliveries, and inventory accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Maintain high visual and housekeeping standards in line with brand guidelines
  • Ensure the store is well-presented, clean, and commercially appealing

About You

  • Proven experience in a retail management role (preferably high street)
  • Strong commercial awareness with a track record of delivering results
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for retail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
