Job Title: Store Manager

Work Location: York Area, North Yorkshire

Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week (5 days per week, weekend working included)

About us

BATA was established as a farmers' cooperative in 1894 at Brandsby, North Yorkshire, 10 miles north of York. Today we are still an agricultural supply cooperative with 4,000 share members. We offer a wide range of products, including bulk and bagged animal feeds, pet foods, heating oil, LPG, timber, fencing, horse rugs, seeds or fertiliser, to name just a few.

About the role

We are looking for a high-performing and motivated Store Manager to join the team at BATA.

In this role you will be responsible for all aspects of the store operation, product knowledge, stock control, visual merchandising and all the associated administrative procedures.

We are looking for someone with high standards and confident interpersonal skills, who will coach and develop a team of high-performing Store Operatives.

Applications must have previous experience in retail management, preferably as a Store Manager with a record of exceptional customer service, sales and operational metrics. An interest or background in agriculture or equine would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a strong Health & Safety culture and leading operational compliance.
  • Responsible for driving sales growth and profitability within their stores.
  • Robust cost controls including payroll and inventory.
  • Maintaining strong visual and housekeeping standards in-store.
  • Coaching and developing their team of Store Operatives.
