GAP Waste is seeking a proactive and commercially focused Stores Account Manager to join our operations team.

This is a key role responsible for managing stock control, procurement, and stores budgets across our waste management depots and fleet facilities. You will ensure critical materials and equipment are available to support frontline services while driving cost control and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage stock and stores operations across depots and maintenance facilities
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP/inventory systems
  • Monitor reorder levels and ensure availability of critical operational items (PPE, vehicle parts, consumables, chemicals, bins, etc.)
  • Conduct stock takes and reconcile stores accounts
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, invoices, and goods received notes
  • Negotiate with suppliers and manage supplier performance
  • Control stores budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Work closely with Operations, Fleet, Engineering, SHEQ, and Commercial teams
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Assist with emergency or reactive procurement needs

Essential:

  • Experience in stores, inventory, or procurement within an operational environment (waste, logistics, fleet, utilities, manufacturing etc.)
  • Strong stock control and financial management skills
  • Experience using inventory management or ERP systems
  • Good understanding of health & safety compliance
  • Strong organisational and communication skills

Desirable

  • Fleet parts knowledge
  • Experience within waste, recycling, or environmental service
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards)
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to train)
