Department: Facility Services - Halifax

Effective: ASAP

Responsible To: Manager, Facility Services

Hours of Work: 48 Hours Biweekly Days

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Three years of relevant work experience
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and using ladders
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Basic math skills are required
  • Previous experience with operating pallet jacks is considered an asset
  • Capable of lifting, walking and pushing/pulling supply carts
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of the following: Customer and Personal Services, Computer Proficiency (Microsoft Office and Databases System)
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance within the corporate standard.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operations of the Central Stores Department
  • Processes stores requisitions (fills order, tracks and records notes in database, delivers goods)
  • Cooperates with other departments regarding supply/equipment requirements
  • Prepares purchase orders for replenishment of stock; places orders with vendors via phone, fax, or internet
  • Physically receives goods from suppliers, checks order and records quantities and condition of received goods against purchase orders; enters received goods into database system
  • Ensures goods are put away in proper space/shelf/room in Central Stores and Food Services
  • Works closely with the Manager in controlling adequate inventory levels, re-order points, minimum stock levels, etc.
  • Ships supplies to external sites/organizations
  • Matches vendor invoices with receiving reports and packing slips, forwards to manager for payment approval
  • Coordinates with Accounts Payable to ensure accuracy of stock item prices, and price increases
  • Participates in quarterly inventory counts
  • Rotates inventory as new stock is received
  • Contacts suppliers to ensure reasonable delivery date of goods ordered
  • Maintains stock item information in software system
  • Performs other related duties as required
