VOCON Energy Ltd is a newly established engineering business specialising in the installation of smart meters, industrial / commercial meters, electrical fuse upgrades and the provision of gas safe engineers to the utility sector. Our management team has over 40 years’ experience within the industry, having worked their way up from being meter fitters themselves. Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Stores Operative to join our dynamic warehouse team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing stock levels, handling materials efficiently, and ensuring smooth warehouse operations. Your energetic approach will help maintain a well-organized storage environment, support shipping and receiving activities, and contribute to the overall success of our logistics process. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience who are eager to develop their skills in a fast-paced, safety-conscious setting.
Duties
- Safely load and unload goods using appropriate equipment such as forklifts and manual handling techniques
- Delivery driving to various areas in Yorkshire and the North West
- Manage stock levels through accurate picking, packing and stock replenishment activities
- Operate warehouse management systems and company inventory software to track material movements and update records
- Conduct regular stock checks and assist in inventory audits to ensure accuracy
- Prepare shipments for dispatch by packing items securely and labelling correctly
- Receive incoming deliveries, inspect goods for damage or discrepancies, and store materials appropriately
- Maintain a clean, organised warehouse environment by adhering to safety protocols and housekeeping standards
- Utilise mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting equipment issues and performing basic maintenance tasks
- Support construction-related activities by handling specialised materials and understanding project requirements

Skills
- Valid forklift certification with experience operating various types of forklifts safely. Preferred but not essential as training will be provided
- Proven experience in materials handling, stocking, picking & packing, shipping & receiving processes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during daily operations
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues quickly
- Previous warehouse or construction experience is highly desirable
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for inventory accuracy
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors

The package
- Location: Sheffield - S9 5PH – Darnall
- Hours: 8.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday (Includes 30 min unpaid lunch break)
- Salary: £24,500 to £25,500 – Subject to experience
- Full PPE provided
- Company pension
