JJ Loughran is a leading supplier of industrial electrical and mechanical engineering solutions throughout the UK and Ireland. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service, quality products, and technical expertise to customers across a wide range of industries. We are looking for an Engineering Stores & Purchasing Assistant to join our growing team and support our Electrical Contracts Department.

Job Description:

As a full-time Engineering Stores & Purchasing Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring our electrical engineering projects run efficiently by supporting purchasing, inventory management, and engineering stores operations. Working closely with our Electrical Contracts Department and suppliers, you will help ensure materials are ordered, delivered, and managed effectively to meet project deadlines and maintain high levels of customer service.

  • Work closely with the Electrical Contracts Department to source, purchase, and organise materials required for electrical projects.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials to customer sites and JJ Loughran engineering stores.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels and ensure engineering stores are well organised.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders and call-off orders from suppliers.
  • Track supplier lead times and deliveries, ensuring they meet or improve agreed schedules.
  • Receive and inspect incoming goods, checking quantities and quality against delivery documentation.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records using company systems.
  • Assist with regular stock checks and report any shortages or discrepancies.
  • Support continuous improvement of stores organisation and purchasing processes.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality, and Health & Safety within the stores environment.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a stores, inventory management, purchasing, or warehouse role is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience within the electrical engineering industry would be an advantage.
  • Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General IT literacy and confidence using purchasing or stock management systems.
  • Full Driving Licence (preferred but not essential).

Working Hours:

  • 38–42 hours per week.
  • Opportunities for Monday to Friday and weekend overtime.
