Storm Overflow Solutions Specialist

Storm Overflow Solutions Specialists (from Principal to Specialist)

Location: Flexible (within Southern Water’s region) – hybrid working (office, site, or home-based) Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 37 per week, Monday to Friday Closing Date: 24 July 2026 Salary: To be discussed at screening stage

Storm overflows pose significant challenges to our customers and communities. We’re pioneering industry-leading solutions to reduce spills and eliminate reliance on storm overflow systems—which is why we’ve launched our Clean Rivers & Seas Task Force.

Currently executing a £1.5 billion programme over the next decade, we’re expanding our team to tackle an even larger programme of sustainable and innovative interventions. We now have brand-new Storm Overflow Solutions Specialist roles (from Specialist to Principal) available to join this frontline effort.

About the Role

This critical technical role sits at the heart of our Clean Rivers & Seas Task Force, ensuring high-quality technical solutions that drive spill reduction—where and when it’s needed—while delivering impactful, pace-focused programmes.

Your core accountability:

  • Lead the technical design and assurance of our storm overflow reduction programme, providing expert input, technical challenge, governance, and assurance.
  • Analyse wastewater catchment performance, model scenarios, propose/assess technical solutions, and review scholarly work.
  • Assure the benefits from prevention interventions—design monitoring programmes, run impact analyses, and justify our PR24 assumptions to secure £2+ billion in investment over AMP8.
  • Champion innovative approaches in partnership with subject matter experts across the UK water industry, academia, and supply chain.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
