Plexal operates at the intersection of government, industry, and emerging technology — helping organisations turn innovation ambition into practical capability, adoption, and measurable impact. National Security is a core growth area for Plexal’s Innovation Services business, where we support government clients to adopt new technology, build innovation ecosystems, and respond to emerging threats and opportunities.
Strategic Account Lead
The Strategic Account Lead will drive commercial growth and strategic client engagement across London’s National Security landscape. This role blends relationship-based sales, delivery-aligned growth, and proposition development. You will build strong partnerships with government and secure market clients, shape new opportunities, and help evolve Plexal’s offering in a rapidly changing environment.
This is a hands-on commercial role suited to a growth-minded consultant who enjoys building relationships, and wants to influence how emerging technology is adopted across secure-government markets.
Alongside this role, we additionally have opportunities in Cheltenham and Manchester - please reach out for more information!
What You'll Do
- Lead strategic client relationships across London’s National Security and adjacent secure-government markets, ensuring strong partnerships throughout the full lifecycle of engagement — from prospecting and opportunity shaping to delivery oversight and customer satisfaction.
- Drive net new business and diversification, identifying and developing new revenue opportunities, expanding engagement across client business units, and landing multi-year, high-value contracts.
- Leverage delivery engagement to deepen client relationships, strengthen Plexal’s reputation, and uncover new growth opportunities.
- Build strong and trusting client relationships through successful delivery on contract, create high levels of client satisfaction.
- Develop and refine propositions that respond to client needs, market trends, and emerging technology opportunities, working closely with the wider National Security & Defence team.
- Partner with suppliers and ecosystem organisations to shape consortium bids, unlock new routes to market, and build collaborative commercial opportunities.
- Provide insight into market trends, procurement behaviours, and customer priorities to inform Plexal’s National Security account strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
