The opportunity
DRC Search is supporting a UK financial services business as it moves from a period of significant change into its next phase of growth.
The organisation has strengthened its leadership, governance, and operating foundations. It is now assessing how to scale its banking and payments proposition, improve the use of technology, and pursue commercial opportunities within a clear regulatory and risk framework.
We are seeking a senior adviser who can work closely with the CEO and leadership team. This person will bring independent judgement, constructive challenge, and practical experience of growing a business in a regulated market.
What you will contribute
- Challenge and refine the commercial strategy, including which markets, clients, and partnerships offer the strongest opportunities.
- Bring hands-on insight into banking, payments, or fintech, particularly where products depend on complex infrastructure and regulated operations.
- Help the leadership team balance growth ambitions with risk appetite, financial crime controls, and the expectations of regulators.
- Test the organisation’s plans for scalable processes, technology investment, and client onboarding.
- Act as a trusted sounding board to the CEO on strategic decisions, leadership priorities, and stakeholder considerations.
- Bring relevant market relationships and insight where they can create genuine commercial value.

About you
You will have held a senior executive or board-level role in banking, payments, financial infrastructure, or a closely related fintech business. You will have helped an organisation grow through meaningful operational or regulatory complexity and understand what it takes to turn a promising strategy into a sustainable business.
You should be commercially minded and comfortable discussing risk in practical terms. You will know when to challenge an opportunity, how to make it viable, and when the right answer is to wait.

Experience working with boards, investors, and regulators will be valuable. Above all, you will be able to build trust quickly, ask difficult questions clearly, and offer useful advice without becoming involved in day-to-day management.
