Job purpose

This is a key role in the Group Communications team, reporting to the Director of Enablement and Delivery. The team’s role is to strengthen employee engagement and advocacy and manage and protect corporate reputation. It looks after company-wide communications strategy, narrative, campaigns, content and planning, governance and channels, and media relations.

This role is in the Enablement and Delivery team whose mission is to act as central architect to shape and embed a high-performance capability by strengthening collaboration between communicators in Group and Lines of Business (LOB), working jointly on strategy and campaigns to leverage deep local knowledge and individual expertise to deliver high-impact outcomes.

What you bring to the team

A creative communications specialist with extensive experience of corporate communications and a proven track record in developing and delivering high-impact communications strategies, multi-channel campaigns and editorial programmes.

Key responsibilities

  • Content and planning – develop consumable content aligned to Group priorities
  • Support the development of fresh, innovative and compelling internal campaigns and content to inform, inspire and engage employees on Group business strategy
  • Improve strategic leader led communications through dynamic, engaging human-centred, curiosity-driven formats
  • Support priority Group topics aligned to business strategy (centrally and locally)
  • Lead a global editorial squad to develop a 12-month plan to create dynamic, consumable, relevant content that engages readers across the company
  • Enhance communications capability across the network through the provision of aligned best-of-breed playbooks, toolkits and messaging framework
  • Draft bitesize digestible stories, scripts and FAQs at pace
  • Protect Group’s tone of voice and messaging to ensure company-wide consistency
  • Identify content opportunities for internal global channels and plan for social media opportunities content shared more broadly across social media
  • Identify risks and opportunities, ensuring timely and effective messaging
  • Use insight and feedback to continuously refine content, messaging, and channel effectiveness
  • Manage the Air Traffic Control process to ensure content reach, relevance and resonance, preventing message dilution and overwhelm
  • Design and manage optimal Extended Leadership Team briefing cascade process for congruent and transparent messaging to all colleagues led by leaders
  • Sets an example of desired behaviour in line with BMG values, and helps to shape a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion, where people want to work
  • Behave in accordance with the BMG’s policies and Code of Ethics and standards

Role qualifications and skills

  • Excellent internal communications experience working in large matrix organisations
  • A proven track record in developing, managing and implementing engaging communications strategies and editorial campaigns in global companies
  • Excellent writing, editorial and planning skills with an ability to synthesise complex business information into simple compelling stories
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder or matrix organisations to build trusted relationships
  • Hands-on mentality with an ability to contribute to effective teams, building strong relationships to deliver best-of-breed outcomes
  • Strong understanding of AI tools and technologies, with proven experience applying AI in a corporate environment to enhance communication, efficiency, and business impact
  • Strong prioritisation skills so can deliver content that matters on deadline while managing competing duties to deliver outstanding outcomes at pace
  • A motivated, strong collaborative team player with a high integrity and a positive can-do attitude who supports their peers
  • Able to think creatively and critically with excellent strategic planning skills
  • An internal communications professional with a passion for culture and people
  • Identify communication risks ensuring timely and effective messaging
  • Use data-driven insight and feedback to continuously refine messaging and channels
  • A good understanding of print and digital, audio and advertising, plus a good sense of social media and how to use effectively in building corporate reputation

Education and Languages

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Native or native-level English, and German or additional languages are a plus
