Strategic Communications Consultant
3 days per week | £24,000 per annum (£40,000 full-time equivalent)
We’re looking for a Strategic Communications Consultant to join our growing agency and work across a portfolio of ambitious B2B organisations.
We help businesses build reputation, shape perception and become known for the things that matter to their growth.
We’re looking for someone who can help us do exactly that.
You’ll need to be curious about businesses and the industries they operate in. You’ll want to understand where a business is going, what it’s trying to achieve and what makes it interesting; then help turn that understanding into clear, effective communications.
You’ll be as comfortable researching and developing ideas as you are writing the communications that bring them to life.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to develop their strategic communications skills while working closely with experienced communications professionals and senior client stakeholders.
The role
You’ll work closely with our MD and wider team to support the development and delivery of strategic communications programmes across our client portfolio.
You’ll get underneath the business behind the brief, understanding its objectives, priorities, expertise, challenges and opportunities and help identify the stories, themes and conversations that can strengthen its reputation.
You’ll contribute to the development of narratives, messaging and communications that bring this positioning to life across different channels.
That could mean corporate communications, thought leadership, earned media, campaigns, social content, case studies, expert commentary, video or leadership communications.
The channel comes afterwards. The strategy comes first.
You’ll have the opportunity to work across the full communications process, from research and insight through to ideas, strategy, content and delivery.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the development and delivery of strategic communications and reputation programmes for B2B organisations.
- Researching businesses, industries, markets, audiences and wider conversations to uncover useful insights and opportunities.
- Developing an understanding of clients’ commercial objectives and translating them into relevant communications opportunities.
- Helping identify what organisations need to be known for and the conversations they have credibility to lead.
- Supporting the development of positioning, messaging frameworks, narratives and key communications themes.
- Identifying stories, expertise, evidence and proof points that strengthen a client’s positioning.
- Writing high-quality strategic content and communications across client accounts.
- Turning complex, technical or corporate subjects into clear, compelling communications.
- Supporting PR, expert commentary, case studies, campaigns, video and thought leadership activity.
- Developing clear briefs for PR, video and creative teams.
- Ensuring communications across different channels reinforce the same strategic narrative.
- Supporting leadership communications and helping bring senior voices into wider company communications.
- Monitoring communications performance, audience insight and wider industry developments to identify opportunities to improve our approach.
- Building strong and trusted relationships with client stakeholders.
- Supporting client meetings and presentations and communicating ideas clearly and confidently.
- Bringing new ideas, questions and opportunities to client briefs.
- Working collaboratively with the wider team to deliver high-quality work to a consistently high standard.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
