A much better understanding of the data about health and care needs, service delivery and performance is required to support this vision. A key part of this role will be to translate and interpret data to strategic and operational leaders to inform their understanding of progress across the health and social care economy as well as to support decision making.
About The Role

Do you want to play a key role in shaping the future of Adult Social Care and Integrated Neighbourhood Working in Southampton? If so, Southampton City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Data Analyst to join our Data & Intelligence team.
This role will provide dedicated strategic intelligence and analytical support to Adult Social Care (ASC) and Integrated Neighbourhood Working, helping to strengthen data-driven decision making, support transformation programmes, and build the evidence base for neighbourhood-based models of care. Working closely with operational, commissioning and strategic colleagues across health and social care, you will support the delivery of Better Care Fund priorities and wider integrated care objectives.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality intelligence and insight to support service planning, performance improvement and transformation. This will include integrating and analysing health and social care data from multiple sources to identify patterns of demand, emerging risks, inequalities, priorities and opportunities for improvement.
The post holder will undertake complex analytical projects, including needs assessments, demand and capacity modelling, performance deep-dives, evaluations and the development of interactive dashboards and reports. You will communicate complex findings clearly and effectively to a range of audiences, helping decision-makers understand the evidence and take informed action.

As part of the Council's wider Data & Intelligence team, you will contribute to a rigorous and consistent approach to intelligence-led decision making, helping to build analytical capability and embed the use of evidence across Adult Social Care and partnership working.
About You
The successful candidate will have a degree or professional qualification in a relevant area and significant experience of working in an analytical role with a track record of with excellent numerical, research and range of analytical skills. As well as knowledge of data management and manipulation, information governance and reporting; visualisation and mapping, you will have knowledge of statistical analysis, forecasting and modelling techniques, including specialist knowledge of analytical tools such as R, Power BI, Business Objects, GIS, Microsoft Office and other statistical software packages required for data input, analysis and presentation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible individual, with excellent communication, presentation, research and analytical skills. As well as a proactive and collaborative approach, with a commitment to using evidence and insight to improve outcomes for residents.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to provide summary analysis of data, working closely with key partners (who may not be “data people”), the role will need the skills to translate and interpret data to strategic and operational leaders to inform their understanding of progress across the health and social care economy as well as to support decision making.
Additional Information
This is a 12-month fixed-term post with the potential for extension, subject to funding and service requirements.

The post holder will be required to work from the office for a minimum of 50% of their working week.
