About the FCA and Team

We regulate financial services firms in the UK, to keep financial markets fair, thriving and effective. By joining us, you’ll play a key part in protecting consumers, driving economic growth and shaping the future of UK finance services.

The Strategy Department sits at the centre of the FCA and is responsible for informing the FCA’s strategic thinking, supporting corporate prioritisation and helping ensure the successful delivery of the FCA’s strategic objectives and outcomes.

The FCA’s Strategy Division sets the regulator’s long-term direction, focusing on deepening trust, rebalancing risk, supporting economic growth, and fighting financial crime through smarter, more efficient regulation.

We have a permanent opportunity at Senior Associate level for a strategic thinker with well-developed problem-solving, analytical, and delivery skills. This role will suit someone who can bring structure to ambiguous issues, contribute to the development of practical strategy recommendations and maintain momentum when priorities or direction change.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support the design and delivery of robust strategic and business planning processes that translate the FCA’s strategy into clear, coherent, and deliverable plans aligned to strategic outcomes.
  • Apply strategy development, problem-solving, and analytical skills, helping turn complex and evolving issues into clear choices, plans, and recommendations.
  • Bring structure, pace, and analytical rigour to ambiguous or evolving pieces of work, taking a pragmatic approach where priorities or direction change.
  • Support coordination of planning, governance, and delivery activity across workstreams, using project disciplines to keep momentum going.
  • Communicate effectively to build effective relationships, support collaboration, and stakeholder buy-in.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
