Regional Strategic Healthcare Account Manager
Location: Birmingham (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary Package: up to £80,000 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year
Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday

Role Purpose
The Regional Strategic Account Manager will own and grow a portfolio of healthcare customers within an agreed region. The role is responsible for developing trusted, senior-level relationships, understanding customers’ strategic and operational priorities, and bringing together SCC’s people, technology partners and service capabilities to deliver measurable value.
Working across NHS organisations and the wider healthcare ecosystem, the role will build long-term account strategies, create and progress qualified pipeline, protect existing revenue and margin, and position SCC as a trusted transformation partner. The successful candidate will balance strategic account development with disciplined commercial execution and excellent customer stewardship.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic account ownership
- Own the account strategy, engagement plan and commercial performance for an agreed portfolio of healthcare customers.
- Develop a detailed understanding of each customer’s strategy, operating environment, technology estate, procurement route, stakeholders, priorities and investment plans.
- Build trusted relationships across executive, clinical, digital, operational, commercial and procurement stakeholders.
- Create clear account plans that identify customer outcomes, whitespace, relationship gaps, growth plays, partner alignment, risks and next actions.
- Coordinate executive sponsorship and wider SCC engagement to strengthen strategic relationships and customer confidence.

Growth and opportunity management
- Create, qualify and progress a healthy pipeline aligned to regional priorities, agreed targets and SCC’s healthcare propositions.
- Identify opportunities to protect and grow existing business while developing new, multi-year transformation opportunities.
- Lead opportunity strategy from early engagement through qualification, solution development, commercial approval, procurement and close.
- Maintain accurate opportunity records, forecasts, close plans, risks, decision dates, next steps and support asks within SCC systems.
- Apply disciplined deal governance, including clear customer outcomes, stakeholder mapping, competitive positioning, partner strategy and win themes.
- Work with bid, commercial and framework teams to select compliant routes to market and produce high-quality proposals and tender responses.
Customer value and transformation
- Translate healthcare priorities into relevant, outcome-led conversations rather than product-led sales activity.
- Connect customers to SCC expertise across infrastructure modernisation, resilience, cyber security, digital workplace, cloud, data, AI, managed services, adoption and change.
- Champion solutions that improve resilience, productivity, staff experience, patient experience and value for money.
- Ensure commitments made during the sales process are understood, documented and handed over effectively to delivery and service teams.
- Maintain regular strategic reviews focused on delivered value, service improvement, innovation and future priorities.
One SCC collaboration
- Act as the orchestrator of the wider SCC account team, bringing together technical, consulting, service, commercial, operational and executive expertise.
- Build effective joint account and opportunity plans with strategic technology partners.
- Share insight, customer intelligence and good practice across the Healthcare and wider Public Sector teams.
- Contribute positively to team meetings, deal reviews, forecasting, campaign activity and sector events.
Commercial management and governance
- Deliver agreed revenue, gross margin, pipeline and customer growth objectives for the assigned region and portfolio.
- Understand account profitability and make commercially sound decisions that protect both customer value and SCC return.
- Follow SCC governance, approval, contracting, pricing, data protection, security and ethical sales requirements.
- Provide accurate, timely forecasts and clear visibility of opportunity health, blockers and support required.
- Manage customer concerns and escalations constructively, engaging the right internal owners and maintaining transparent communication.
Measures of success
- Achievement of agreed revenue, gross margin and pipeline objectives.
- Growth in qualified, well-governed pipeline and improved conversion of priority opportunities.
- Retention and development of existing customer relationships and revenue streams.
- Increased senior stakeholder coverage and evidence of trusted-adviser relationships.
- Quality, accuracy and timeliness of account plans, CRM records, forecasts and deal governance.
- Effective cross-business collaboration, partner alignment and customer satisfaction.

Skills And Experience
Essential
- Proven success in strategic account management, business development or complex solution sales within enterprise or public sector environments.
- Experience working with NHS organisations, Integrated Care Boards, health boards, central health bodies or private healthcare providers.
- Experience developing senior customer relationships and influencing multiple stakeholders through complex decision-making and procurement processes.
- Demonstrable ability to create account strategies, build qualified pipeline, forecast accurately and close complex opportunities.
- Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of revenue, margin, risk, value propositions and negotiation.
- Ability to orchestrate multidisciplinary teams and partners around a clear customer outcome and sales plan.
- Excellent written, presentation, questioning, listening and stakeholder-management skills.
- Comfort working autonomously across a region, prioritising activity and travelling regularly to customer and SCC locations.
Desirable
- Understanding of healthcare structures, current system pressures, digital priorities and public procurement routes.
- Experience selling technology, professional services or managed services across areas such as cloud, infrastructure, digital workplace, networking, security, data or AI.
- Established relationships within the healthcare technology ecosystem or with relevant strategic vendors.
