Job Title: Lead Sourcing Specialist
Location: Nailsea, UK (4 days onsite)
Duration: 6+ Months
Salary Range: £40 - £45/hour
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced ITO Fabrication Sourcing Specialist to support the commercial bidding process by developing competitive sourcing strategies for fabricated and manufactured components. This role is responsible for managing supplier engagement during the Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) phase, obtaining competitive quotations, evaluating supplier capabilities, negotiating commercial terms, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fabrication sourcing, including welding, machining, CNC machining, structural steel, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, skids, assemblies, castings, and forgings, within heavy engineering, manufacturing, or oil & gas industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing activities for fabrication-related RFQs during the Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) phase.
- Develop sourcing strategies to maximize bid competitiveness while meeting technical, quality, and commercial requirements.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers for fabricated and machined components, including welding, machining, assemblies, pressure vessels, structural steel, piping, coatings, and heavy fabrication.
- Issue RFQs, evaluate supplier quotations, and perform commercial and technical assessments.
- Conduct total cost analysis, market benchmarking, and should-cost evaluations to identify savings opportunities.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, warranties, and commercial agreements.
- Assess supplier capability, manufacturing capacity, financial stability, and execution risks.
- Build and maintain relationships with strategic fabrication and manufacturing suppliers.
- Monitor fabrication market trends, raw material pricing, supplier capacity, and manufacturing costs.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Commercial Operations, Sales, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Project Management, Finance, and Legal teams throughout the bid process.
- Identify sourcing risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project execution.
- Support supplier qualification initiatives and Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) with key fabrication suppliers.
- Ensure accurate sourcing documentation and support the transition of awarded projects from Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) to Order-to-Remittance (OTR).

Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain within fabrication or manufacturing environments.
- Strong experience sourcing fabricated and engineered components such as:
- Heavy Fabrication
- Steel Fabrication
- Welding
- CNC Machining
- Precision Machining
- Pressure Vessels
- Heat Exchangers
- Structural Steel
- Pipe Spools
- Skids
- Assemblies
- Castings
- Forgings
- Coating & Surface Treatment
- Experience supporting commercial bids, tenders, RFQs, or proposal activities.
- Strong supplier negotiation and commercial evaluation experience.
- Knowledge of supplier qualification, supplier development, and fabrication manufacturing processes.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, IFS, or similar procurement platforms.
