Strategic Supply Chain and Procurement Lead

I’m supporting a global organisation with the appointment of a strategic supply chain and procurement lead into a newly created position within an evolving global procurement structure.

This is a senior strategic procurement role for someone with strong category management and commercial contracting expertise, combined with the interpersonal skills and credibility to operate effectively across a complex organisation.

You’ll be managing high-value categories and strategic supplier relationships across multi-tiered supply chains, so you’ll need to be genuinely comfortable shaping commercial terms, reviewing complex contractual clauses, identifying commercial risk, leading high-level negotiations, and working directly with suppliers to achieve the right commercial outcome.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Equally important will be your ability to build strong stakeholder relationships. You’ll work across multiple functions and levels of seniority, so you should be personable, confident, and able to communicate complex commercial issues clearly and credibly, including with senior leadership.

I’m particularly interested in speaking with people who can demonstrate:

  • Strong strategic procurement and category management experience within a large, complex organisation
  • Experience managing large-scale, high-value categories, including raw materials, metals, or complex engineered packages
  • Confidence reviewing, structuring, and negotiating detailed contractual terms
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the confidence and presence to engage and influence at senior leadership level
  • A background within complex engineering, manufacturing or industrial environments such as aerospace, rail, energy, defence or oil & gas
  • A relevant degree, MCIPS qualification
  • Commercial/legal training would be advantageous but is not essential
