Role Overview

The Strategy Manager will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the Retail business and supporting the development of a high-performing strategy function.

Working across growth, performance and transformation priorities, the role will provide strategic insight, rigorous analysis and practical recommendations that enable better decision-making at senior leadership level. As an early member of the team, the Strategy Manager will help establish the Strategy function as a trusted partner, delivering measurable business impact while exploring the application of AI and emerging technologies to drive innovation and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver strategic projects focused on the Retail business's most important growth, performance and transformation opportunities.
  • Support the development and execution of the Retail strategy, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
  • Conduct market, competitor, customer and business performance analysis to identify opportunities, risks and areas for improvement.
  • Develop insight-led, commercially focused recommendations to support executive and senior leadership decision-making.
  • Produce high-quality presentations, reports and business cases for a range of senior stakeholders.
  • Build effective relationships with leaders and stakeholders across the organisation to influence outcomes and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of the Strategy team's frameworks, methodologies, capabilities and reputation across the business.
  • Investigate and leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance strategic insight generation, business performance and decision-making.

Skills And Experience Required

  • Experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, business transformation or a similar strategic role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic projects and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure complex business issues and identify practical solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills, including experience influencing senior leaders.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a clear understanding of the drivers of business performance, growth and profitability.
  • Experience conducting market analysis, competitor assessments and business performance reviews to inform strategic decisions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong curiosity, innovation mindset and interest in applying AI and emerging technologies to business challenges.
  • Experience working collaboratively across functions to build relationships and deliver strategic outcomes.
  • Financial Services or UK General Insurance experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
