How You'll Make a Difference
Working within a front-line team, you will act as Streetcare Operative working alongside the lead operative within this team. Delivery services for the Parish & Town Councils, working through various tasks requested by them and set out by the supervisor. The work will need to be completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
What You Will Be Doing
- You will operate specialist equipment such as strimmer’s, hedge cutters, hand blowers, pole saw, and other power tools for certain tasks (relevant training can be provided).
- In this varied role, you will undertake maintenance work including strimming, hedge cutting, clearing detritus from lanes/footpaths, general repairs to things like fencing and litter picking throughout South Gloucestershire.
- Regularly, you will carry out routine maintenance operations including heavy cutbacks and detritus clearance on roadside verges, footpaths, and other areas.
- We require you to communicate with residents and give good, accurate advice and information. Any feedback should be passed to the lead operative and escalated to the supervisor where relevant.

- You will have demonstrable experience working in a ground’s role and be able to operate commercial professional grounds equipment such as strimmer’s, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- It is essential that you have a full UK driving licence, preferably with experience of driving a long wheelbase transit style tipper and experience in a similar commercial or public sector role or have transferable skills.
- You must be able to follow instructions, read maps, and complete records accurately.
- You are required to have a good understanding of health and safety and the risks and hazards associated with the role.
- You will have working experience of face-to-face contact with the public, giving a high standard of customer care.
What You Need To Know
- You will be working from our Broad Lane Depot.
- Relevant training can be provided.
- Your uniform and equipment will be provided.
- We require you to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area, so you must have a full, valid driving licence.
We anticipate interviews taking place week commencing 9th November 2026.
